    Redwood or hardwood timber windows

All our products are manufactured using FSC® 100% engineered laminated timber. We offer both redwood (Scots Pine) and hardwood (Dark Red Meranti) – both with the same extensive warranty. When comparing the two, our hardwood has a more of an open grain structure meaning it gives more of a textured finish, particularly when stained.

    Casement Window FAQ's

What is the difference between flush and lipped casement?

On  flush casement windows the sashes are flush with the frame externally. On a lipped or storm-proof casement window the sash overlaps the frame.

Is there a difference in weather performance between lipped and flush casements?

At Bereco, our timber flush casement windows feature double weather seals that offer excellent weather performance and keep out the draughts. In addition, both our window styles come with the ability to adjust and increase compression on the weather seals.

What hinges do your casement windows come with?

All of our casement windows are fitted with easy clean friction hinges.

Do I need a stay on my casement windows to hold them open?

Bereco casement windows feature easy clean or egress friction hinges so when open the friction of the hinge holds the window in place. Our traditional lipped and flush casements also come with secure night vent position.

Do you offer mock sash casement windows?

Yes, we can offer these in both side hung or top hung (regency casement) designs, as well as  Tilt & Turn (opening in) window styles.

Do I require Part Q on a casement window?

Currently, Part Q is only applied to new dwellings, so if you are building a new home or converting a non-dwelling (e.g. a barn) into a home then it is a required. If you are renovating a home then it is not a requirement. However, we would certainly recommend that you look for a manufacturer who builds security as standard, like we do. Look for espagnolette locking and 3* high-security cylinders (neighbourhood watch approved) where possible.
