    Redwood or hardwood timber doors

All our products are manufactured using FSC® 100% engineered laminated timber. We offer both redwood (Scots Pine) and hardwood (Dark Red Meranti) – both with the same extensive warranty. When comparing the two, our hardwood has a more of an open grain structure meaning it gives more of a textured finish, particularly when stained.

    Timber French Door FAQ's

What is a French casement door?

A French casement door is where both door leaves on a French door or casement window open to create one large opening without the presence of a mullion. This design is often referred to as a flying mullion.

What is a lead and slave leaf?

On a set of double French doors, the lead leaf (often called the traffic door) is the door leaf which is most often used to come in and out of rather than opening both door leaves. The slave leaf is the leaf used least regularly and normally locks into secure keeps in the lead leaf or frame.

Can I have parliament hinges on your French Doors?

We do not offer this type of door hinge as they don’t tend to be adjustable. The hinges we use are corrosion-resistant fully adjustable hinges from SFS Intec – the Easy 3D and SFS Just 3D.

How many locking points do your French door locks have?

Our French doors have three locking points and our multipoint locking espagnolette provides two locking points, The third provided our 3* Neighbourhood Watch Approved cylinder locks.

    Is your lock insurance approved?

Yes, our espagnolette locks supplied by Fuhr and Winkhaus are certified to PAS24:2016 Secured by Design and our cylinder locks are supplied by ERA from their Fortress range, certified to TS007 and are 3-star rated, Sold Secure Diamond, Neighbourhood Watch and Secured by Design Approved.

Can the French doors open to 180 degrees?

All our outward opening French doors are restricted to 90 degrees.

Can I have handles only on the inside of my French doors?

Yes. This option, often used for balcony doors that open inwards, is available with our Balmoral and Balmoral Swan door handles. A blanking plate is fitted on the exterior to securely fix the handle in position.

At what height does a French door require a double handle?

Our French doors that are above 2.3 metres high will automatically have handles on both the lead and slave leaf of the door. This double locking system gives additional peace of mind that at such large sizes, the doors will remain secure.

    What does handle operated mean?

Handle operated high-security multipoint espagnolette locks are where the lever handle operates the shoot bolts or deadbolts.
