    Glazing

    Choice of glazing

Glazing is an important consideration for any project, with our timber tilt and turn windows you can choose from double glazing, or triple glazing. Add glazing bars to create traditional and contemporary glazing patterns using our applied 16mm, 25mm and 35mm glazing bars.

We offer acoustic double glazing with a range of impressive sound reduction ratings, from 33dB to 42dB and a variety of obscure glazing patterns are available offering varying privacy levels (rated 1-5 with 5 being the highest level of obscurity). Our obscure, translucent coloured and opaque painted glass also makes for a great feature.

Solar control glazing can also be incorporated to Bereco tilt and turn windows to help neutralise the effects of the sun. Choose from ultra clear, blue, green and bronze tinted effects. Not only is it perfect for low energy homes, thanks to the centre pane U-values starting from 0.5W/m²K it can also reduce the risk of avoiding overheating – which is common with large expanses of glazing.

    Redwood or hardwood timber windows

All our products are manufactured using FSC® 100% engineered laminated timber. We offer both redwood (Scots Pine) and hardwood (Dark Red Meranti) – both with the same extensive warranty. When comparing the two, our hardwood has a more of an open grain structure meaning it gives more of a textured finish, particularly when stained.

    Tilt & turn unique features

The concealed hinge system, concealed trickle vents and our unique external timber drainage design mean that we don’t have aluminium or plastic bottom beads that detract from the clean lines of the frames. This unique detail means that the outside of the design is completely manufactured from timber.

    Tilt & Turn Window FAQ's

How does the tilt and turn window work?

By turning the handle 90 degrees the window opens inwards. If you turn the handle 180 degrees the window will tilt inwards.

Are Bereco tilt and turn windows secure?

Yes, the sashes use multipoint locking mushroom cams that lock into keeps on the frame. They are certified and tested to PAS24:2016 and come with police approval through the Secured by Design approved product scheme.

Are Bereco tilt and turn windows Passivhaus certified?

Our tilt and turn windows are not certified Passivhaus but we can optimise the U-value of our windows using krypton-filled triple glazing that has U-values starting from 0.5W/m²K. This gives our windows an overall U-value starting from 0.8W/m²K.

How far does a tilt and turn window tilt inwards?

The opening sash will tilt inwards at intervals of 80mm and 140mm. They are held fast by the mechanism so you don’t have to prop the window open with retrofit stays.

Does the tilt and turn window open to 90 degrees?

Yes, giving easy cleaning and a clear opening for easy escape.

Will overheating or solar gain be an issue with such large areas of glazing?

Bereco uses only soft coat low emissivity argon or krypton-filled double or triple glazing with a G-value of 0.56. This can be reduced with its special solar control coatings with G-values starting from 0.3.

Where is the handle fitted on a tilt and turn window?

The handle is fitted in the centre of the stile of the opening sash. This can also be positioned lower for accessibility if required.
