Once a former Post Office, this characterful home, albeit loved for a long time by a previous family, had not been well maintained and was in serious need of restoring to its former glory. Situated in one of England’s most picturesque villages, this listed family home was patiently awaiting a new owner who would be willing to take on the challenging yet rewarding experience of bringing the building back to life. This was the challenge that the new owners lovingly and bravely took on.

Working with listed buildings is far from a straight forward process; Historic England who governed the renovation of this property and govern all listed properties of historic interest around England are very particular about the approach of those seeking to breathe new life into old buildings and so to ensure they got it right the new owners turned to local window replacement specialists Windows Etc for help.

Joe Solomon MD of Windows Etc knew exactly where to turn for wooden windows and doors that would satisfy the strict conservation requirements of Historic England but at the same time compliment the modern yet classic interior the family hoped to achieve from their new home.

With detail and styling a key consideration for both the new owners and Historic England, the Bereco Heritage Range with lambs tongue beading and putty line mouldings were chosen as a perfect match for the property. The more modern features of the Bereco Heritage Range came as a real plus for them too; friction hinges and multi point espagnolette locking with a secure night vent position offered a sense of security to the couple without having to compromise on style, something they didn’t think they would get when they set out on this journey looking for heritage timber windows.

Bereco Heritage Range Timber Flush Casement windows were teamed with Bereco Heritage Range Timber Flush French Doors and Classic Timber Entrance Doors to complete this historic renovation. The 14mm SlimLine glazing units that feature as part of the Bereco Heritage Range with their slender 8mm internal spacer bars were just perfect for imitating the aesthetic of traditional single glazing. With Uw values of only 1.3W/m²K; 30% better than the current building regulations governing replacing windows and with a 10 year manufacturers warranty these timber flush casements not only look the part they will keep the home snug and warm reducing the families heating bills for many years to come.

‘The Bereco Heritage Range was perfect for the job, stunningly crafted and finished. Another bonus of using Bereco is that it is guaranteed that the product is going to have come from a sustainable source as all products are made from only FSC 100% timber.’ Joe. Windows Etc

The attention to detail didn’t stop there, the beautiful Heritage timber casement windows were accessorized with 25mm horizontal lambs tongue bars, decorative butt hinges and traditional Monkey Tail handles in an antique black finish and came factory finished in an environmentally friendly water based paint matched to Farrow & Ball Hardwick White.
